GTS : Presentation
The system relies on four simple principles :
1. Using gravity
A 5/1,000 slope allows to move freight without any input of energy. Topographic data that specialized companies can provide make it possible to define itineraries that use gravity on long distances.
2. Transporting live load only
No more trucks, no more locomotive, no more wagons… resulting in a reduction of at least half of the load that has to be moved.
3. Tractive effort
Using steel wheels on steel rails divides the tractive effort by eleven, in comparison to tyres.
4. Difference in level
The GTS will only travel upwards once on its journey between the point of departure and point of arrival.
